Cold Storage Temperature & Period for
Seafood, Fish & Aquatic Products in Refrigerated
Warehouse
When will make a plan to
build a cold storage warehouse for the cold storage
of seafoods, fish and aquatic products, we must
first decide the designed storage temperature to
keep the products in a longer period and higher
quality. Different seafood & fish products require
different cold storage temperature in refrigerated
warehouse. The lower storage temperature will make a
longer storage period and better storage quality.
However the maximum storage temperature for seafood,
fish and aquatic products should not be higher than
-18℃. The standard storage temperature of the
refrigerated warehouse for seafoods and fish
products is -24℃ with relative humidity of 95~100%.
Most seafoods and fish products can be kept in a
cold storage room for a storage period of 9 months
at -18℃ and 1 year at -24℃.
Below is the
list of some seafood cold storage period at
different storage temperatures:
Frozen Eel, Pilchard (Fat): Storage Period 6
months at -18℃; Storage Period 10 months at -25℃; Frozen Codfish (Medium Fat): Storage Period 8
months at -18℃; Storage Period 12 months at -25℃; Frozen Flatfish, Croaker (Thin): Storage
Period 10 months at -18℃; Storage Period 14 months
at -25℃; High Quality Alaska Pollock Harness: Storage
Period 1 months at -18℃; Storage Period 2 months at
-23℃; Storage Period 6 months at -29℃; Shrimps, Prawn: Storage Period 12 months at
-18℃; Storage Period 14 months at -23℃; Storage
Period 16 months at -29℃; Shellfish (Razor Clams packed by plastic bags in
carton): Storage Period 6~10 months at -18℃~-25℃
with relative humidity of 95~98%; Oysters (Packed by plastic bags in carton):
Storage in below -18℃ refrigerated warehouse
When we build up cold storage warehouses, we can
determine the designed storage temperature according
to the above list based on our different storage
purposes of seafoods, fish and aquatic products.
